Ah, we do love a good ol’ Libertines tour, and the seaside for that matter. Resultantly, the London formed bands’ ‘…Tiddeley Om Pom Pom Tour’ brings a perfect mix of both, seeing them travel to seven British Seaside towns across a two week long period in September and October 2017.
Returning to arenas, the tour also sees them play famous seaside Ballrooms and Pierside venues, it clearly is a mix of old and new in which The Libertines’ sound is best suited to. The Libertines return to the live arena following 2016s successful full length arena tour, which saw the band play their biggest indoor dates so far including venues such as London’s o2 Arena and Manchester Arena. This was followed by extensive touring in Europe alongside some surprises including a return to London’s Brixton Academy for Unity Rocks and a secret adventure up the Northern Line to The Boogaloo, an at best 200 capacity pub in North London.
This was all in support of ‘Anthems For Doomed Youth,’ September 2015s anticipated return following a gap of over 10 years. The album was received welcomingly by fans and press alike, it is clear that their next adventures will be more anticipated now more than ever.
Recent interviews suggest a seaside abode is in its preparation stages, with the band looking for a Warhol-esque home in the form of a hotel. Featuring a guest rooms, a recording studio and a pub, the factory will surely be one of the most cherished music related destinations in the country.
Carl Barat says: “We’re looking for a home, one roof for the many splendoured trappings of Arcady, a factory, with a guest house, bar and studio. We do like to be beside the seaside and we hope to find that home on this tour… watch this space …”
With a summer of festival appearances also on the cards including Tramlines Festival (July 21st-23rd), Truck Festival (21st-23rd July), Newcastle – Live from Times Square (August 3rd) and On Blackheath (September 10th), it is clear that The Libertines are rapidly clearing of the dust in preparation for the next stage of their ‘Arcadian dream.’
