Shambolics are regarded as currently being one of the greatest upcoming bands in Scotland, their sound is infectious and up-lifting. Latest single “Chasing A Disaster” is one of their strongest to date.
With promising guitar chords, an echoey melody and dreamy togetherness, “Chasing A Disaster” is an example of Shambolics’ strong musical ability. Best suited to the live setting, the track is both memorable and anthemic. Produced at Eggman Studios upon an 1980s tape machine it is without a doubt a sign of intent from the Kirkcaldy formed band.
“The Kirkcaldy band are truly unique”
Having been named by This Feeling, Radio X and Fred Perry on respectable ‘Big In 2017’ lists, the year has already been successful for Shambolics. Much of it has been spent touring festivals across the country including Reading and Isle Of White. Their mesmerising live set has enabled rapid growth in their fan base and media support alike. Already, we cannot wait to see what the band have planned heading into the latter parts of 2017 and beyond.
Formed in 2016 the four piece take influence from 60s psychedelia, 70s harmonies and 90s anthems. “Chasing A Disaster” has all the elements of this and more, Shambolics are able to mix influences such as The La’s and The Smiths whilst creating a sense of individuality. The band are truly unique. Their latest single follows the release of “Love Collides” in March. The track is incredible and channels a Johnny Marr-esque guitar riff mixed with the anthemic lyricism of early Oasis. Once again it works wonders live whilst also being strong in a recording format.
This month sees the band head on tour under the ‘This Feeling’ banner following in the footsteps of other great new bands such as The Shimmer Band, Bang Bang Romeo and The Blinders. They play Leeds, Manchester and Glasgow before closing at London’s Water Rats. We can only recommend catching the Kirkcaldy outfit in a small venue as soon as possible, their sound is destined to rapid growth and larger venues in the not too distant future.
It is rare to see a new band have as many strong releases as Shambolics do, a sure sign that their name will remain relevant for years to come. Overall, “Chasing A Disaster” is quite possibly their best release yet.
